Maths & Science in English

It's been a rage last week due to this issue - Use Bahasa Malaysia to teach Science and Maths again.

Teaching Science & Maths in Bahasa Malaysia in English was implemented 7 years ago, when I first enter Form 1. Which means that I studied Science & Maths in Bahasa Malaysia in my primary years. Although, I don't really like the idea of suddenly changing our Science & Maths into English... I had to cope up with it and as humans adapt to changes, Science & Maths in English are enjoyable now.

However, since the last 7 years, there are so many people protesting against the use of English as a medium of teaching Science & Maths. The most popular reason is that students can't keep up with with their studies. Most of them are those from rural areas. Is that because of their lack of trying to learn the language? They can take up English language and try to learn the language instead of just protesting against the use of it.

I have friends.. mainly Chinese. Their English are not that super fluent since their mother tongue is mandarin, but I've never heard them complain about the use of English in Science & Maths. Plus, some of them are more fluent in Bahasa Malaysia compared to English. In fact, some of them manage to score really high marks. They even came to ask me to teach them to improve in their English(not bragging about me here). That proves that they are willing to learn. If you all want to protest to return Bahasa Malaysia as a medium of teaching Science & Maths, then they can also say that they want Mandarin as a medium of teaching Science & Maths. But they did not, because they are pretty sure that the Government won't allow it and that Science & Maths in English is not a bad thing. As long as you have the will to learn it, you'll realise that it's not living hell.

The young generations nowadays starts their Science & Maths in English(standard 1) and slowly progress without ever learning it in Bahasa Malaysia before. Compared to us that suddenly have to switch from 6 years of learning it in Bahasa Malaysia and suddenly to English, I think they are having an easier time to cope with it. Honestly, you all just need to spare a little bit more time to learn English. Me, being a Chinese and unable to speak Mandarin.. Also only truly learnt the language when I first came to UTAR(Watch loads and loads of Taiwanese drama). Although I didn't really learn the writings. But, I'm sure that Bahasa Malaysia and English have a lot more in common compared to English and Chinese characters??? Definitely...

Undeniably, Bahasa Malaysia is the National Language of Malaysia, but it's high time to learn that English is THE International language. It truly won't hurt to learn another language instead of just sticking to one language. I hope our Yang Berhormat Dato' Seri Hishammuddin bin Tun Hussein will stand strong in his principles and not waver. Because, I can be sure that IF Bahasa Malaysia is implemented as a medium in teaching Science & Maths again, the childrens will be having a far more difficult time when they enter college and university because, it is a known fact that higher studies uses English in the Science & Maths.

The atmosphere of Station One. Nice???

Yeay~~~ Dancing classes has started back!!!

Woot!!!

Yesterday was our first class and sadly, there's not many people attending.

4 girls and 5 guys.

But, it's so much fun all the same.

It's never dull dancing wif Ken..

You know why???

Because...

We can do the wrong moves and still look nice in it.

Sir and miss will figure out why is that so.

LOL!!!

And then, we'll start laughing our heads off.

Anyway, foxtrot is not an easy dance because it's a sleezy and slow and romantic dance which I and Ken can never dance properly. Haha.. we still fare better in Jive~~~ Me being the stick and him being the wood.. Decided to be more "fat hau" to look nicer in the dance. Haha.. And suprisingly, it kind of worked!!!

Ahaha.. It was 7p.m. by the time we leave the place. While waiting for my mum to come, Ken accompanied me to try out the newly open Station 1. The name of the restaurant is not really cool, but the atmosphere is really nice. And the food there is not bad. It's a western based restaurant. We tried the snack "Four Colour Roll". It's nice!!! It's just fishcake and crab with some vegetables and mayonaise. Then, Ken ordered Iced Longan Milk and I just needed some Honey and thus, I ordered a glass of Iced honey. Ken's drink is so nice!!! T.T.. Regretted not ordering it. I thought Longan and Milk is not a good combination but it turned out GREAT. And Ken seizes every opportunity to tease me. Should've just grabbed the drink from him.

I'm such a catch!

I've come across a few people who thinks so highly of themselves. Yah, I know the greatest love of all is loving yourself, but I don't think it's until the extent of boasting about your riches or your greatness. And the most frustrating part is, you boast about yourself in such a humble way that it makes it all the worse.
For example:

Boasting of riches -
Sadly, my dad had to sell away one of my cars because I don't think my house garage can fit another extra car since he's going to get a brand new Nissan Skyline to add in to our collection of 10 cars. Bye Bye my lovely Subaru Impreza.

Boasting of ownself -
I find that so many people are adding me in Facebook. Gosh, I shouldn't have put that picture of me in it. But, I know that they are not real friends, so.. I have to other choice than to reject them.

Beginning and The Last~

Hooray~~~

First week of my semester is over!!! And Monday is a public holiday. It's a joy having holidays.

EXCEPT that I'll need to stay back late until 6.00 p.m. on one of the day this coming week to replace the class I'm going to miss on Monday

AND ALSO I lost my phone on my first day of the semester.

The thing is.. I can't believe that the person will not even spare a Nokia 3310 for God's sake!!!

At least if I say that the phone is Nokia N95 or Sony Ericsson W910i also I can understand a bit lar. But... THIS IS NOKIA 3310!!! Let me keep it to protect myself from dogs please!!! Haha.. This phone is famous for throwing at dogs. The dog will faint but the phone will still survive.

Anyway, when I lost this phone, I realised that I've been taking this phone for granted. I think the saying "You'll never know the value of something until you lose it" couldn't be any more true.

Anyway, I can only blame my own callousness for the missing of my phone. T.T.. I accidently left it on the computer lab table and went out. When I finally realise that I left it in the computer lab, I went back and find for it. But, it's already gone... in a mere 20~30 minutes. Gosh...

I can only say goodbye to my love and hope that you'll not be tortured by the new damned owner of yours.

Anyway, shortly after my phone went missing, Kenneth came with a Nokia 3310. Same colour with mine somemore. Haha!!! I started pestering him to give me back my phone. It appears that his old phone got soaked in water when he was playing volleyball. So, he had to use of the old phones available in his house. He's nice enough to offer me one of his old phones to use. Thanks Kenneth!!! But like him, my house also has a few old phones. Which means that, I'm not getting a new phone.. yet~~ Hehe... I thought of getting a new phone when I get a job. And with my salary, I'm going to get a new phone. Whee~~~ Provided if my dad is going to pay for my license. Planning to get license also~~~ Haha...

Anyway, this is going to be the last semester for me in Foundation In Science in UTAR. And after that, I'm going to go for my degree. Gosh.. Time flies. The subjects I'm taking this semester is relatively lesser than last 2 semesters which are:

1. English for Communication

2. Web Page Design

3. Management Studies

BUT!!!

The assignments are piling up like.. GOSH!!!

Since there's only 7 weeks this semester, assignments are given to us relatively early.

AND

3 BIG ASSIGNMENTS to be done in 5 weeks!!! How nice can my life get??? ^^

I've got to do a drama for my English for communications. I kind of look forward to this assignment. Basically, we've come up with the synopsis. My members are:

3. Nevin (Mentally challenged son. Haha..)

4. San Len (Narrator and odd jobs)

I'm glad that my team members are co-operating and even Thiyagoo is volunteering to write the script. Hehe.. I hope everything turns out good~

Then, there's Management Studies. Where we have to find a leader and do some research about him. Kudos to Yoke Ha who found a leader for us to do research on. My lovely members are:

Every girl's dream???

Beauty lies in the eyes of the beholder. Unfortunately, what the beholder beholds is often an idealised and almost impossible to achieve image. Not that it stops woman from trying.

I saw this statement from The Star, Saturday 28 February 2009. Star Weekender Section. Quote your sources. Haha.. Anyway, how true is this statement? Quite true I think. There're so many people doing Botox, plastic surgeries, liposuction, face lifts, double-eyelids, etc... You get my point. Especially with those barbie dolls and fairy tales that potrays all beautiful ladies. Since young we've already got the impression that beauty is so important.. Personally, it's kind of scary to go under the knives. Who knows what will happen...Don't get me wrong, as a girl... I'm also conscious about my appearance. But maybe not as drastic as going under the knives to change my monkey face. Lol.. Luckily, I'm a scrawny kid. So, I don't need to worry much. Note that I use "scrawny". So, it's not a boast. Noone would boast about ownself being scrawny. ><.. Anyway, I don't know why am I blogging about this. Maybe because I'm going back to college tomorrow and I'm still in holiday mood. Don't want to go. But, still have to go. Haihz.. Life is like that. Enjoy it. Haha...

Linger

Watched this chinese movie last Wednesday. Movie title is Linger or Flying Butterfly. Chinese is Hu Die Fei. I rarely watch TV nowadays. But, since Vic Zhou is acting, I decided to watch it that night. Haha..

This movie is about Yan(Li Bing Bing) who lost her boyfriend, Dong(Vic Zhou) in an accident. Dong was chasing Yan at that time to ask whether she loves him or not and unfortunately, he crashed before he got an answer. Yan was guilty and had to rely on anti-depressant pills to live until 3 years later, her doctor asks her to try and stop taking those pills. That's when she starts seeing Dong who is a ghost. Dong still lingers around in mortal world to hear Yan's answer and also to see his dad who he does not have a good relationship with.

Honestly, I've never heard of this movie before which is released in January 2008. Omg.. I'm that outdated??? And I guess that kind of means that this movie is not so popular. Which is quite true because the review I saw about this movie is not exactly a nice one. There's people condemning about the characters, the cast, the storyline, the director who is not really a romance script writer... Well, you get the point.

Personally, I like this movie. I think this movie is one of a kind movie which is potrayed in a different way. For example, most of the romance movie nowadays is about a how a pair of strangers become couple and lives happily ever after. But, this is after that. What happens after 3 years, your dead boyfriend finds you as a ghost. And you're trying so hard to forget him. Will you still have feelings for him? I get the message of the movie, and that's what movies are supposed to do right? So, why look so far into the character, etc... I also like the way the movie ended. It's sweet to me. Although not that satisfying... It was already midnight by the time I finish watching the movie. Which leaves me without any energy to bang the TV hungering for more. Hee..

As I've said before, this movie is not your typical romance movie, so some might not like it. I've come to discover that my taste is a little bit unique. Hehx.. Maybe because I don't think too much??? One man's poison is another man's meat right...

But I do have one complain about this movie.. It's that I have to agree with Ken that the cover of the movie is a bit old fashioned. Haha.. Oh, there's also credit to Li Bing Bing for singing the theme song. Only Memory a.k.a Zhi You Hui Yi. I like that song. Ghostly and sad. And this movie is so unpopular that I can't find even the song in youtube. Or the lyrics anywhere. T.T...

There's this case of whether human is an evolution of ape or not. You know, Charles Darwin said that humans are evolution of ape. But some say that humans are naturally God's creation. Today is the 3rd week~~~

Yah, went out with her 3 days before Valentines to Times Square. While waiting for Arthur, she suggested that we go to the Foto Studio to take our pictures. And I agreed since it's so fun. Hee~~~ I personally love the fourth picture with Hamtaro. Really cute and crazy. Haha!!! It took some effort to come out with crazy poses. Haha..

Then I went to her house on Monday. I love her house. Super nice!!! Super pretty!!! And her room is really cosy~~~ Except the fact that her room is all red, it's ok. It's spacious. And her room is so comfy. We spent our day sleeping on the bed and reading which is our favourite past time. She borrowed me Nicholas Spark's - At First Sight. I highly recommend this book. Really nice. OMG!!! I even cried like shit at the end. The ending is kind of unexpected larhh.. That's why it took me by suprise and therefore, I cried like hell. T.T...

Thought of crashing her place again sometime this week and stay overnight. But, mummy hardly lets. And me also lazy want to go out. Haha.. Anyway, it's a real change for me this semester break. I'm lazing around at home. Since I've been working everytime there's semester break, this time is really a good change. Lazing around at home. Reading. Eating. Sleeping.. Heaven. Really have to treasure it a lot since next semester break will be no more lazing around. I need to work to get $$$ or I'll face bancruptcy individually. Hehe..
